Ideas using Mac

Seems like things are going fine and no major issues.

Junior Daily

Good that pupils are creating new template and use them for Junior Daily. In a way, it gives them some motivation seeing their creation on the screen.

Also, kids these days are very comfortable creating things. If we look at the Internet, many young kids create content and post them on the web. We should start getting our kids to do that as well. (Eg: Blogs, Wikis)

Oral Skills

Do be familiar with the Mac. We should start making use of the tools to enhance pupils' learning. One way is to make use of iSight to record pupils' oral presentation. They can sit in front of the Mac and record their reading.

Pupils can playback the recording and record again if it is not up to their standard. Here are some key considerations:

1) Ease of use - Is it easy to record?
2) Collection of recordings - Can we collect the recordings easily? Emails? Post on the net?

We have tried using the iSight to record a oral presentation. So how can we get the ball rolling ?

Option 1: We can train the CL teachers and they in turn can teach the pupils. We can assist them during the lesson.
or
Option 2 :We can go in during the CL lesson and train the pupils to record and covert it to a quicktime movie file.

I believe the option 2 is easy to work with and its time consuming.

Im sure the boys will love it.

It is easy to use as they boys will have to click on one button in the iMovie to start recording.
Another way is to use window movie maker to record. The steps are easy as well.

2) Collection of recordings - Can we collect the recordings easily?
We can export it as QuickTime in Mac. We cannot collect their work easily as netsupport does not support Mac. We have to save it one by one.
If we save it using Window Movie Maker, we can use netsupport to collect all the files.

3)Emails? Post on the net?
The boys can e-mail to themselves but the size of the file must not be more than 10MB. (Take note that uploading will take alot of time )
Recording and saving the files are easy but uploading can be a problem. We tried recording for 3mins and the file size is 44MB. We also tried uplaoding a 8MB file to LEAD and Blog. Both takes a long time to upload.

Well, can try using Windows Media, but the thing is it is not stable and hangs easily. Can it be saved in a folder and access the files when we log in using Windows?

I'm also considering getting Mac version of Netsupport if require.
